Five years ago, a pre-pregnancy checkup turned into surgery. We found ourselves standing next to our best friend’s husband as the surgeon delivered the news, she was safe but she lost her dream of carrying and having her own child. Cancer took “the easy way” away from Heather and Matt, but it never took anything else. For four years, this couple helped each other through the scary, sad and painful times — never complaining, never giving up on each other. The “traditional way” of becoming parents is gone, but thanks to technology, surrogacy is Heather & Matt’s “roundabout way” to have the family they deserve and the answer to adding two amazing parents to this world.
