Please help me get my Father home

In August 2022, my father, Christopher Manthe was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. After learning of this devastating news, our family quickly sought the most advanced and innovative cancer treatment. My father is from Botswana, where quality healthcare and patient resource services remain underdeveloped. As a result, we opted for my father to receive treatment in Mumbai, India.

In September 2022, my father established care with his oncologist in Mumbai and a curated treatment plan was developed; to be carried out by his oncologist in Botswana. After completing six cycles of chemotherapy my father returned to Mumbai for evaluation.

On January 22, 2023, my father arrived in Mumbai for re-evaluation. Little did we know that my father’s health was rapidly deteriorating. Within the week, my father was diagnosed with septicemia and his bilirubin levels were at an alarming number. My father was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit. Fortunately, they were able to treat and stabilize him.

On the 10th day of admission to the ICU, our family was notified that his medical aid funds had been exhausted. Furthermore, we were informed by his care team that the cancer had spread and is beginning to cause organ failure. Due to my father’s condition, the doctors at the hospital are unable to issue a fit to fly letter due to concern of him passing in a commercial airline which would cause an inconvenience to passengers.

It is my family’s wish to get my father home, back to Botswana so that he may be able to say his final goodbye to his family, friends, and loved ones. We would like to hire an air ambulance that will fly my father from Mumbai, India to Gaborone, Botswana.

All donated money will be used to transfer him back home, pay for the remaining medical costs, and ensure he is comfortable for the remainder of his time with us. Any amount will help get my father home to Botswana and help lessen the financial burden of the medical costs. Thank you for taking the time to read this and for your donation.
