Things can change so fast!

On January 6th, 2023 my daughter Alyssa gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, Harper Elizabeth. Everything was going as normal as normal gets for a first time mom, up until one month ago. In October of this year, Alyssa noticed a lump on her right breast and immediately went to urgent care, they referred her to a doctor who ordered a biopsy of the mass on October 31. Her appointment for the biopsy results was scheduled for November 9th, 2023 and that is the day that everything changed. My Beautiful, healthy and active 25 year old daughter, Alyssa, was diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma stage three triple negative breast cancer

As you can imagine, this has been a huge shock to us all. Not only does she have a thriving and happy 10 month old baby girl to care for, but now has a long and extensive journey of healing ahead of her. Due to how aggressive her particular form of cancer is, Alyssa has been told by doctors that she will not be able to work while undergoing treatment. She is scheduled for chemo and immunotherapy for up to 12 months, at which point she will need multiple surgeries including a double mastectomy. She is looking at a year or more battling this unfair diagnosis.

On top of the fear and stress that comes with the cancer, shes faced with trying to figure out how to financially care for herself and her baby through this treatment with no income. With everything that’s been thrown at her these past two months, she has been so strong. On November 17th, only 1 week after her initial diagnosis she got her chemo port put in place and we are looking at starting chemo on Tuesday, November 28th! She was able to share baby Harpers first thanksgiving with her and get some pictures before she started the chemo journey. They are fighting this thing fast and fierce.
