#ThirstyThirty Birthday Campaign

Donation protected
Part of me feels like I careened through my twenties, you get handed a high school diploma on stage at 18 and then you wake up one day just a month away from your 30th birthday. It has been an absolutely amazing ride, but I wanted to do something different which is why, about 6 months ago, my friends and I started work on the #ThirstyThirty campaign.

WHO:

For those of you who don't know me my name is Adam Lopez, I'm an entrepreneur, for the better part of the past decade I've been much like everyone else, attached at the hip with my email account and filling the time between trying to come up with witty things in which to keep my social media accounts engaging. But coming up on 30 years old I wanted to do something that would not only leave a lasting impression on the planet but also help hundreds of people in the process, such the #thirstythirty campaign was born.

WHAT:

In an attempt to further the work of the great people at Charity Water we're looking to raise $10,000 to build a well that will give clean water forever to a school and/or a village in an under developed country, this will allow the townsfolk to not spend hours taking agonizing journeys to polluted water springs and filthy ponds and puddles.  With the #thirstythirty campaign we're looking to raise $30 from 333 people in order to reach our goal of $10,000. Every "share" or post is extremely valuable to the campaign in pursuit our goal to bring a clean water well to an under developed country.

WHEN/WHERE:

The Campagin will run from May 7th to June 2nd. Everyone who donates a minimum of $30.00 will receive an invite to my birthday and campaign close celebration on June 2nd in Naugatuck, Connecticut.

WHY:

There are dozens of reasons why clean drinking water is essential to healthy living and below are a few examples of that provided by our friends at Charity Water:

**HEALTH:

Diseases from dirty water kill more people every year than all forms of violence, including war. 43% of those deaths are children under five years old. Access to clean water and basic sanitation can save around 16,000 lives every week.

**TIME:

In Africa alone, women spend 40 billion hours a year walking for water. Access to clean water gives communities more time to grow food, earn an income, and go to school -- all of which fight poverty.

**EDUCATION:

Clean water helps keep kids in school, especially girls.
Less time collecting water means more time in class. Clean water and proper toilets at school means teenage girls don’t have to stay home for a week out of every month.

**WOMEN EMPOWERMENT:
Women are responsible for 72% of the water collected in Sub-Saharan Africa. When a community gets water, women and girls get their lives back. They start businesses, improve their homes, and take charge of their own futures.

HOW:

Charity Water works with local experts and community members to find the best sustainable solution in each place where they work, whether it’s a well, a piped system, a BioSand Filter, or a system for harvesting rainwater. With every water point that gets funded, their partners coordinate sanitation and hygiene training, and establish a local Water Committee to help keep water flowing for years to come.

Thank you so much for taking the time to check out my birthday fundraiser and any support to help make this dream a reality would be incredible. Myself and everyone involved will be forever greatful!
