This is the fight of my life!

Once upon a time, Long long ago. There lived a fearless entrepreneur that had the gift of setting her mind to something and always bringing it to fruition. Being a business owner and a mentor my whole life has put me in a position of being positive and always leading by example with strength and confidence. The wisdom I have gained over the years is priceless. But here I sit at a crossroad. Severe arterial disease has brought me to where I am now. After lspending a year trying to save a toe that even after amputation wouldn't heal and then finally making the decision to amputate my leg below the knee. You can't even imagine the pain one has to endure just to say please take my leg! My surgery was successful. And my stump as they call it is healing wonderfully. My physical therapy has given me the strength that my upper body needs to endure. And now I am faced with yet another dilemma. While here in rehab, I have learned that I have infiltrative basal cell carcinoma. Basal cell is highly treatable, but the concern is that it is infiltrative because it can travel to other parts of the body. Initially I was going to have the surgery on my face to have it removed while in the rehab. But the surgeons schedule has changed. I now have to wait about two weeks before I can proceed. The scariest thing about the surgery Is that it will drastically change my appearance. But I know it is the best thing for me to have the cancer completely removed. And that is the hopes with the surgery they are confident they can get it all out. So now being able to come home, exciting as that may seem. It's tough because all of the equipment that I need is not covered under insurances. So you can just imagine out-of-pocket expense is endless. I don't feel completely safe at home alone because my house is not handicapped equipped. And my husbands income is the only income.I'm not really sure what the next steps are but I do know this. I need to reach down deep inside and harness the strength of that leader I know I've been my whole life. The months to come, being fitted for a prosthetic and all the pain that comes with it. I just got to take this one day at a time. Realizing that we are all living paycheck to paycheck and feeling to humble at heart to ever ask for any kind of help. I'm told my prosthetic starts at 15,000. The thought of never walking again paralyzes me., all I can do is try and hope for the best! If you can't donate thank you for taking the time to listen to my story. All prayers are welcome! Chef Leslie
