Thomas Jacobsen's Eagle Scout Project - Fundraiser
Donation protected
Hello.
My name is Thomas Jacobsen. I am 16 years old and I am the Senior Patrol Leader of Boy Scout Troop 182 of Holden, Massachusetts. I have been involved in scouting since I was in the first grade. I am currently a Life Scout, but I am working towards the rank of Eagle Scout. The final requirement to obtain Eagle Scout, the highest rank in Boy Scouts, is to complete a service project that will benefit the community.
The project that I will be leading is one that will benefit both the Holden Chaffins Recreation Association (CRA), as well as Chaffin Pond, which is located off the shores of the recreation area. My team, which will consist of myself, some friends and family members, some of my fellow scouts and some scout leaders, will be working on clearing a trail that has become overgrown around the outskirts of the recreation area. There is considerable trash along the water's edge, and in the shoreline which we will be picking up and disposing of. Some of this trash will be large, and we will be utilizing a dumpster, trash bags, gloves, etc. The overgrowth will be trimmed back, and cleaned up using hand tools and manpower so that the trail can once again be accessed for those that enjoy fishing, and/or walking the trail.
The pond itself is a great place for kayaking, canoeing, fishing, and bird watching. There are a variety of bird species that inhabit the pond and the small islands within. My team and I have discussed and been granted approval by the Holden Conservation Committee to construct 5 birdhouses that will be placed on one of these islands, specific to encourage and welcome the population of chickadees, titmouse, nuthatch, wrens and downy woodpeckers that are in the area.
I hope to begin construction of the bird houses in February, while the clean up and clearing will need to wait until the snow melts, and the pond is not frozen. I hope to finish this entire project by June of this year.
While some of the materials needed have been donated, there are still some materials that will need to be purchased. My goal is to raise $500.00 starting in the month of February for the materials that my team will need for this project.
I greatly appreciate your financial support toward helping me achieve accomplishment of my Eagle Project, and hope that you will consider making a donation.
Thank you.
