Thomas Meyer Needs Your Help

Donation protected

***UPDATE: 5-05-24***

Tom’s next chapter is here and he is headed home to re claim his life. Tom is scheduled to return home May 7th. As you can imagine, the next steps are intimidating as he works to regain strength and energy and confidence.

Since January 21 st when he was first admitted to the hospital , we have all hoped and prayed for his return to his home on Peach Flower and to Little Michael, his dog. We are now searching for in-home healthcare services to help with his meal preps and aid him in gaining back his independence.

The goal is for him to become self - sufficient and to eventually get back to working. Your help has been invaluable. We have one last hurdle as we get him back on his feet with as little stress as possible. It’s been a long road. Your friendship, prayers and donations have kept him going. We’re re almost to the finish line!

***4/15/2024***

Tom has returned to the physical therapy facility and is working on getting his strength and ability to walk back. All of your support and prayers are appreciated and needed.

It looks like he will be in the rehabilitation facility for several more weeks. It’s already been a long road and Tom is working hard to get back to regular life. He also wanted me to let all of you know he loves all of you and couldn’t make it without you. Thank you!

***UPDATE 4/01/24***

First of all I want to say thank you to you all for your continued support of prayers, well wishes, and donations for Tom.

Tom has had another set-back in the past couple of days and has landed back in ICU at the hospital due to an infection.

He is stable now but not sure when he will be able to leave ICU. Unfortunately, these set-backs are just prolonging his ability to resume his physical therapy.

He is still optimistic that he will eventually get back home and to work but we feel it may be several more weeks. Please continue with your prayers and support as he needs all the help he can get. Thank you.

UPDATE ON TOM MEYER: 3-11-24

Thank you all for the prayers and donations; it has truly made the difference!

Tom’s recovery has been nothing short of miraculous! On Jan 22 of this year, Tom ended up in the hospital due to complication sustained from a fall while working out of town. Weeks ago, he went from bad to worse with having to be intubated and kept in ICU for several weeks. When awoke he had limited control of limb movement in the hospital. Now he is in a rehab facility in Summerlin undergoing intensive physical, occupational, and speech therapy.

His doctors are extremely optimistic he will be fully functional for independent living in a few weeks. The movement in his arms and hands are improving rapidly. Tom is now able to sit upright on the edge of his unassisted, but not yet able to stand or walk independently just yet. It is currently unknown how long Tom will remain in the rehab facility and cost of his care continues to rise. Tom is so very thankful for the generous donations and the outpouring of prayers and support. We ask that you continue to support Tom through the next phase of his recovery! He has his cell phone now and text and calls warm his day.

Jan. 30, 2024 - Original

Hi, my name is Laura Meyer, Tom's sister and I'm helping to raise funds for Tom's continued medical help.

As you may already know, about three weeks ago Tom was admitted to the Hospital for complications from a few cracked ribs sustained from a fall while working out of state.

Unfortunately, his complications resulted in him being in ICU with a vent for the last three weeks. A couple of days ago he was moved from ICU and the vent removed however he has not completely regained consciousness and has been re-admitted to ICU and placed on vent again.

The prognosis is that he will need a professional caretaker and be placed in a physical rehabilitation center for several weeks. Tom does have limited insurance, but it does not cover all of his medical bills or his everyday cost of living expenses while he is incapacitated.

During this time the family asks to refrain from calling or texting them directly but instead use the Go Fund Me page to leave well wishes and donations. All well wishes will be read to Tom while he is hospitalized.

We are asking for prayers and or donations to help with the long road ahead. Any help is greatly appreciated.

UPDATE: Feb. 15, 2024

Hi it’s Tom’s sister, Laura. I wanted to provide an update on Tom.

On Feb. 12th , Tom awoke from sedation, was removed from the vent, and is currently breathing on his own. Every day he is more alert, speaking, and his personality is showing through with funny and (some sarcastic) remarks! On Feb. 14th, he was downgraded from a critical ICU to an intermediate ICU.

The move was a baby step in the right direction, but his doctors tell us his condition remains very serious. We are hoping tests in the next few days will provide more answers than questions.

There is no doubt Tom has a very long and uncertain road ahead of him! The thoughts, prayers, and financial support from his family and friends is immeasurable!

My faith remains strong, as I know Tom’s does too! Thank you all!

Update: 2/18/24

Good news! Tom has been released from the hospital and moved to the Rehabilitation Center where he will begin physical therapy. Though he still has a difficult road to conquer, we hope for continued progress news to share with you along the way.

Tom is looking forward to getting home , to seeing his little dog Michael and to getting back to his life soon. Your support and prayers have meant so much. Thank you all!!!

Feb. 26, 2024

Hi again. Tom has been able to leave ICU but is still at the hospital. The prognosis is that we will be moved back to the rehabilitation center to start his Physical Therapy today or tomorrow. He is heading in the right direction finally!

We expect the physical therapy to be for a few weeks before he can return home and ultimately back to work. Your thoughts, prayers and donations are greatly needed and appreciated. Thank you.

March 4, 2024

Tom has been moved to the rehabilitation center and will be starting his physical therapy today!

He is excited to start working on getting his strength back and ultimately being able to return to his home and work. We expect his time at rehab will be for a few more weeks. The journey to living independently again is on its way!!!

Your help and prayers in his time of need has made a huge difference and has given him needed encouragement. Thank you all!
