Thor's Surgery
Donation protected
My sweet Thor tore the cranial cruiate ligament (CCL) ((the dog equilvant of an ACL)) in both of his knees. I have taken him to five different vets and all have said that he needs tibial-plateau-leveling osteotomy (TPLO) surgery. Torn CCLs are most common in young, large-breed dogs and happens when they jump, twist, turn or land wrong. During surgery, they will cut into the top of Thor's tibia, rotate the bone, and use a plate and screws to secure it in place, eliminating the need for the torn ligament. Thor is being treated at The Cove- Center of Veterinary Expertise in Suffolk, VA by Dr. Jeff Stallings, a member of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons. He will have surgery on his left knee on January 4, 2018, and after six weeks of healing, Dr. Stallings will schedule the surgery for his right knee. The cost of each surgery is about $4,600, so in total, the cost to repair both legs will be about $9,200.Any help to get my baby bear back on his feet would be greatly appreciated! Thank you so much and happy holidays!
