Sending our baby Bird home!

Donation protected

A mother couldn't have been more happy than my own. She had watched her eldest son receive double degrees from college on Saturday and  Sunday was mother's day! We all gathered round her and wished well upon her. We joked and laughed, sang and ate. My mother saw us all off one by one, sure we'd meet again. We all said some variant of goodbye and per usual she responded "Don't say goodbye. Say see you later, because I WIll see you later!" Shaytan(satan) seemed to have other plans, as her nightmare would begin Monday morning after noticing her youngest son never returned home.

We all felt it in the wind....in our shortness of breath, in our spontaneous crying whilst on the commute to work, something was wrong! Our worst fears came to fruition and we answered the sickest call a loved one could receive.

"He has been gunned down!"

"Shot several times...."

"We're tying to find him!"

"Hospital says they don't have him?!"

No mother should have to know those phrases as intimately as my mother. And yet here they were being uttered almost as fast bullets could fly. Her sons untimely demise had been confirmed Monday afternoon and before she could wrap her head around the "How" came the "Why's". Why had he been taken so senselessly? Why had no one notified us Sunday when the events occurred? Why were his "friends" suddenly so distant? It was all too much and my mother had no time to truly grieve because she now had become detective, coroner and grief counselor for the entirety of us.

"And then there were only three..."

Mere days after mothersday (while the events of my brother's murder permeated through the streets) we were finally able to identify his remains and begin the strenuous task of planning his funeral. This was the gruesome gift the "hood" had given my mother, her baby boy in his lifeless state awaiting his creator's embrace. Instead, I pray the gift of Justice and peace of mind awaits her in the very near future!

In the meantime and between time, she needs your help. The funeral arrangements and settlement of affairs (including supporting the 4 year old daughter my brother has left behind by no fault of his own!) are quite costly. We are asking those who can assist to do so. Even if your Empathy moves you to contribute a singular dollar, no donation will go unrewarded by Allah (SWT). Please continue to keep our shrinking family in your prayers and Duas and May Allah give us protection in abundance.

(I'm aware some prefer cash app as opposed to  crowdfunding apps. If that is the case PLEASE feel free to send funds to $duahallah with the attached note "For Bird")

P.S

Bio and sentiments for my brother Oscar Chears A.K.A Bird coming soon ❤

Oscar Gerrel Davion Chears was born 12/17/97 to the braiding of two hearts, Oscar George (preceded in death) and Merrland J. Chears. Their shared home resided on Detroit's westside in the State of Michigan. As a student, he attended Frank Cody Highschool where he realized his passion for automotives. His life's pursuit consisted of building and owning his own vehicular repair shop, a place where he could employ at risk youth and young men.

Oscar, also known lovingly among family and friends as "Bird" was the life of any party. The same way P Diddy made sure to do a two step in everyone's video, bird could be found making everyone laugh. In fact, Bird loved familial activities, however they came second to the love he held for his only daughter, D'Arren.

Bird transitioned from his family's embrace to that of his heavenly fathers May 8th, 2022. He leaves behind to embrace and cherish his memory; a Daughter D'arren, one brother, David (wife Kelly Chears), and 3 sisters Merneesha, Krystal (Jaime ), and Billie. In addition are 2 honorary brothers, Tyreek, Kristopher, a Father figure, Preston, four Uncles, Robert C., Timothy D., John R. (wife Wilma), Stanley L.(wife Dorkas) and an abundance of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Please say Al Fatiha for our fallen brother and keep our remaining family members in your prayers as they prepare to see him off one last time.
