Thriving After Surviving: A Bright Future for kids

This is one of those moments when family is everything. You all are our family- our everything, a family of friends that so graciously take on our pain and grief and stand in it with us, holding us up, providing the miracles we need to believe in the good. Sadly, our family has once again faced a tragic loss of a young life. These beautiful faces above are our great niece and nephew, Isaiah (7) and Cecelia (4), our strong survivors. These amazing, sweet, intelligent children have not only stolen our hearts, but gifted us with much needed hope and love in humanity, they are the bright light in times of great sorrow. They have shown strength beyond their years after surviving another car accident, resulting in the loss of their older brother, our great nephew Eli (9). Eli passed away on Dec 7, 2020.  These two have now been given permanent placement with their Grandparents, our brother and sister in law, Jim and Dawn Ortega. The kids are facing a lot of challenges over the next years as they transition to these huge life changes, without their big brother. We greatly appreciate so many of you reaching out, asking how you can help Cecelia, Isaiah and our families. We, the great Aunts and Uncles: John & Christy Ortega and Jeff & Beth Ortega, have had many discussions as to how we can best assist these kids through their next few weeks and years.  To be sure these two  have all they need as they grow and throughout this transition, we have chosen to create an account, outside of their immediate caretakers and guardians, to provide financial assistance now and in the future, wherever needed most, for these two sparks of life. These financial gifts will be directly under our care, to be used at our sole discretion, directly for the needs of the kids throughout this major life transition. Due to the complications of their parental situation, and the need for the courts to be involved with their placement and future development, we chose to support the kids no matter their station, with the great love and financial security to give them as much normalcy as possible... a strong foundation to grow on.
