Help through complicated & agressive breast cancer

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Sarah and I am fundraising to help with what is turning out to be a long and complicated journey through breast cancer treatment.

In July 2023 I was diagnosed with an agressive Grade 3, Stage 3, Triple negative breast cancer, which had already spread to my lymph nodes. In short, I had the most aggressive and hardest to treat breast cancer!

To make things more difficult, my pre-existing disabilities have impacted on treatment. I have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, M.E, MCAS, PoTS, underactive thyroid, and post covid vaccine syndrome (I ended up in the hospital multiple times with all three vaccines.......it's been a rough couple of years!!).

Things have been incredibly difficult since being diagnosed, and continue to be. Everything that could go wrong with cancer treatment went wrong at my first hospital, including having the worst allergic reaction to chemo that they had ever seen! Due to the number and seriousness of the issues, I had to blow my life up and move 220 miles back to Yorkshire in order to be closer to family. I had to accept that I needed more support, which has taken its toll - mentally, physically, and financially.

It is now February 2024, and I should be nearly finished with treatment. Instead, I am only *nearly* half-way through, having already been through:
  • Multiple MRI, CT, mammogram and other scans
  • IVF fertility treatment
  • Having my port inserted, then having to have it removed and replaced!
  • 10 rounds of chemotherapy
  • The worst allergic reaction to chemo that the hospital had seen, resulting in many weeks in the hospital, and a break in treatment for 10 weeks
  • A change in hospital
  • Neuropathy in my arms and legs
  • Finding out my cancer was treatment resistant, so chemo wasn't working and I needed early surgery
  • A radical double goldilocks mastectomy and full node removal
  • Lymphovenus anastomosis surgery
In January I underwent a double goldilocks mastectomy and full node removal. That alone is a lot to deal with, and I do not recognise my "new body", but I have to hope that the cancer has not spread because they found cancer in my upper lymph levels. They have found 'patches' in other parts of my body, which we are now investigating. I now have months of additional chemotherapy to get through, then a minimum of 15-20 rounds of Radiotherapy, before having to wait a minimum of 8 months for more surgery.

All money raised will help with much needed additional treatment (like physio), and paying the bills, as the extended treatment time is having a knock on impact on everything financially.

I am hugely grateful for all donations.

Update: March 2024.
I have re-started chemotherapy and unfortunately had a negative response. I ended up back in the hospital, and spent 9 days there. Nearly 3 weeks later I am still dealing with a number of issues, alongside dealing with losing the hair that I had managed to save. We have to continue with chemo, so we are going ahead with the next round, but as an inpatient. There is a need to monitor me more closely, and have access to medication quickly. I have to hope it gets better.
