Thru-hiking the CDT, a odyssey of a lifetime

Hey y'all! It's Dragonsky and I am back at it! I am a hiker, writer and influencer from New Jersey, changing the narrative of hiking. Historically, Black folks were never welcomed in the outdoors, well, I'm here to change all that. I am currently pursuing the Triple Crown of hiking which includes the Appalachian Trail, Continental Divide and Pacific Crest Trail. I will be the second Black woman to do so and first lesbian Black woman. I am a triple minority taking on a triple threat. Chasing mountains is just what I do, it gives me freedom and a overwhelming sense of peace. Showing up in nature is important so that other BIPOC folks see that yes, I am out here and yes you can come out here too! I write about racism in the outdoors and I am striving to create conversations in the broader outdoor community about lack of diversity and the barriers that keep BIPOC hikers out.

 

I recently completed my thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail from 2/22/21-11/17/2021 and I couldn't have done it without y'all, my lovely Dragonflies! Now, I am tackling the second leg of my Triple Crown Journey on the Continental Divide Trail. It costs 5-7k to hike this trail and I have saved a few thousand but still need some help on this journey. A little support goes a long way and nothing is too small to help!
