Thu Duc Orphanage Support
This coming March, I will be kayaking down the Mekong River, starting at Pakse, Laos and ending in the South China Sea. We will sail through three countries (Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam).
This trip has significance for me as I will be exploring more of my heritage in the land of my birth. I was abandoned at birth right at the conclusion of the Vietnam War. I grew up in at least two orphanages.
When we are in Saigon, the Mekong River Adventurers intense to visit one of those orphanages, Thu Duc. It was a state run orphanage housing a large population of abandoned children when I lived there.
Today, it is an orphanage focused on providing care for abandoned children, a lot with serious physical and mental disabilities. Most of these children will never know a real home and will spend the rest of their lives dependent on others to help them live through their disabilities, infirmities and traumas.
Thu Duc Orphanage gets only a fraction of support from the Vietnamese government and rely primarily on generous support from around the world.
When we visit in March we hope to hand over to them what support we are able to raise. Any amount of support will help as they are so desperate for any assistance.
Thank you in advance.
