Thunderbird: A New Colin Moran Surf Movie
Colin Moran is a surfer from Costa Mesa, CA and last year he worked on a new surf film called Thunderbird. Before it came out, Colin tragically lost two of his best friends Ken Suzuki and Tyler Lonsway.
To premiere the film, Colin wanted to raise some money for his best friends' families and this is how he’d like to do it: By throwing an amazing night to premiere the film.
“Ken and Tyler are some of my best friends and biggest hype men. They always cheered me on during my surf career — or what’s left of my career. We met in high school and that was that. We surfed and hung a ton over the past decade and I have so many incredible memories of them. We lost Ken in 2020 when the world was falling apart and we couldn’t do much about it. As things started to get better this last few months we lost Tyler.
I was hurting pretty bad. I couldn’t imagine how their families must have felt. So I said, “Fuck it let’s do this for them. Fuck the corpo bullshit, fuck everything I’m gunna do this for them. Things are opening up now so let’s put the pedal to the metal on a good time for them. I don’t have much money but I have a ton of friends and want to raise money for Ken and Tyler’s families. So we’re doing that.
I want to put the spotlight on them, not me. I want everyone to come have a good time and always keep Ken and Tyler in mind and in our hearts. I love those guys and miss them a lot.”—Colin Moran
