Tia hit and run recovery fund
Donation protected
Friends,
After devoting a lifetime to her family and sending her 2 children thru college, with the youngest set to graduate in May of this year, our Tia was finally starting to do something for herself. Over the last year, she had developed a passion for bicycling and embraced fully the lifestyle, enjoying both the health benefits as well as camaraderie with the many biking communities in northern California. Unfortunately around 7pm on April 27, 2020, while out biking with her friend 50 feet ahead of their husbands on westbound Elk Horn Blvd towards I-5 near the Natomas Blvd intersection, Tia and her friend were struck from behind by a SILVER TOYOTA TRUCK WITH A LUMBAR RACK. Tia was the first to be hit and took the brunt of the force, knocking her off her bike and leaving her broken, bruised, and barely conscious while her friend was fortunately able to escape with relatively minor injuries. The hit-and-run driver quickly sped off which left little time for the two husbands to catch any more details of the vehicle after realizing what had transpired ahead of them.
Our Tia was rushed to the ER at UC Davis Medical Center with major internal injuries consisting of a broken right forearm, wrist, and fingers, chipped rib cage, bruised lungs, a fractured pelvis, and a fractured spine. She has undergone emergency surgery on her entire right arm, wrist and hand on 4/28/2020 with many more yet to go. The road to recovery will be a long and harrowing one, with the possibility of her returning to her former passion uncertain.
Tia is a kind, loving, and selfless person who would give you the shirt off her back. During the early days of Covid-19 pandemic with the PPE shortage, she used her own time and money to buy materials and sewed over 140+ masks for Project Hospital. These masks were donated to different local area hospitals around Sacramento.
We sincerely appreciate any donations you are able to make and you will forever have our gratitude. All money raised will be used for her medical expenses as she tries to piece her life back together and return to any semblance of normalcy.
Thank you.
