I WILL be lawyered.

One day I had a dream. Be a lawyer. More specifically, be a public interest lawyer and serve the underserved and indigent communities. It was a simple three-step plan (still is but, I've had to add a few extra steps since 2014).

Step one: Get into and graduate from law school. Check.
Step two: Take and pass the bar exam. This will be my third attempt at taking and passing.
Step three: Land my dream job. I'm going to make this happen.

After 4 and a half years I finally graduated from law school (Dec. 2018). There's just one thing keeping me from my dream - the California State Bar Exam.

It's expensive. Preparation is time consuming and exhausting. Life happened and continues to happen.

I've already purchased new prep material and am re-using materials from my first attempt. Here's what's left for me to do and pay for:

- Registration: $667
- Laptop Fee: $153
- Hotel during the exam (No less than $150/night* 3 nights): at least $500

Because of COVID, I had to leave my job as a law clerk. We are now a single-income household with some gigs. In order to fully commit to bar study, I cannot accept any extra gigs. So, I'll need some help with life expenses:

- Rent/Utilities/Exam week child care/External hard drive/Bar food: $4,000

(Video of my honors program try out. I was a semi-finalist)

Is a hotel necessary?
Even though the exam will likely be virtual, I still need an isolated space in order to comply with exam rules, and more importantly, focus. So, for me, yes.

Also, with accommodations, I may be able to take the exam in-person or at least in a lawyer's office or my law school campus. Regardless, I am a full-time wheelchair user and rely on public transportation. This can be very unreliable. I do not want to miss the exam (there are rules for lateness) just because I could not get their on time.

What if you surpass the goal?
Any additional funds will be used to replace my income while I await results, especially if I am still out of work.

What if you don't meet the goal?
I'll have to figure it out. I'm not letting this go. I've worked too hard and many people (including the online community) have invested in my success.

Will we know if you passed the bar?
OF COURSE! Listen, all of you have a stake in this. I feel like we're in this together at this point. You've donated (hopefully) or boosted my campaign. I will most certainly keep you updated. Who knows, maybe we'll have a "bar party" if I passed. To keep update outside of this site, please feel free to follow me  - FourWheelWorkout

I sincerely hope you can help me reach this goal. Your help will get me the materials I need to study, some peace of mind in the weeks leading up to the exam, and that much closer to doing what I was born to do - Law.

But I can do none of that without your help.
