Tibetan Women's Scholarship Program

Tax deductible
Tashi Delek! (Hello in Tibetan)

Greetings, compassionate souls! We invite you to join us in supporting the Tibetan Women's Scholarship Fund, a meaningful initiative that transforms lives through education. We aim to raise $14,000 to empower young Tibetan women pursuing higher education, creating a ripple effect of positive change in their families and communities.

The project took root in 2017, inspired by Neysa Fanwick, a beloved Tulane School of Social Work alumna. Neysa's deep connection with the Tibetan community during her visit to India in 2011 fueled the establishment of the scholarship fund. In her memory, we've witnessed 12 Tibetan women complete nursing degrees and thrive as dedicated healthcare professionals.

Education not only shapes individual destinies but also uplifts entire families and communities. Many deserving Tibetan women are accepted into programs but need more financial means for tuition and living expenses. Your generous contribution to our scholarship fund, managed by the Louisiana Himalaya Association (LHA), directly supports these bright minds.

The LHA, founded in 1997 in New Orleans, is a volunteer-based organization with a sister entity, Lha Charitable Trust, in Dharamsala, India. Both organizations are committed to supporting Tibetan refugees through various programs. Every penny you donate directly goes to the scholarship fund, as LHA operates without expense accounts or travel allowances.

Tibet's history is marred by the Chinese invasion in 1950, leading to the death of over a million innocent Tibetans and widespread human rights abuses. The ongoing exodus from Tibet is a testament to the enduring struggle for freedom and cultural preservation. Your support not only provides education but also sheds light on the plight of Tibetans and their quest for justice.

We urge you to contribute whatever you can and share this GoFundMe campaign to amplify our impact. Together, let's be the beacon of hope for these resilient souls who have faced profound injustices. Your generosity can change lives and create a brighter future for Tibetan women.

A heartfelt thank you for your support!
