Tick: A Martha's Vineyard Short Film
Donation protected
Hi! I’m Sam Permar and I make films that bridge comedy and satire with horror to explore the weird nuances of being human. I'm shooting my MFA thesis film “Tick” this summer on Martha's Vineyard and I’m asking for your help to make this project come to life.
"Tick" is a narrative short horror film that follows a New York couple trying to conceive a child on Martha’s Vineyard, but their idyllic vacation is interrupted when they become infected by ticks and their lives begin to unravel. The film explores the hidden danger of ticks within the context of a tourist economy, highlighting the common lack of awareness about the risks of tick-borne illness, the current absence of medical expertise in addressing these health issues, and difficulties caused by denial about these matters.
Every contribution will directly help us cover production, post production, and distribution costs including hiring actors, transporting and housing the cast and crew, submitting the project to film festivals, and hosting local screenings.
The project is fiscally sponsored by Fractured Atlas so donations are tax deductible. Another way to support the project is sharing this campaign to help us reach more people. You can find us on Instagram at @tick.shortfilm to stay up to date on the project.
Thanks so much!
