Jessica Ruano is the Executive Director of Tierra Vida, a nonprofit dedicated to uplifting families in Philadelphia, particularly those facing financial hardship. With a Master's in Educational Leadership and over a decade of experience in education and social services, Jessica has led impactful initiatives to enhance resource access for underserved communities. Her career includes roles as a preschool teacher, educational coordinator, and supervisor of the Rapid Service Response Initiative.
Rooted in Hispanic and Taino heritage, Tierra Vida is committed to providing essential resources, financial assistance, and opportunities that help families—especially youth—thrive.
Tierra Vida’s mission is to build community strength and well-being, focusing on three core areas: youth empowerment, basic needs support, and cultural preservation. Through programs like food and resource distribution, mentorship, youth education, and health services, Tierra Vida strives to make a lasting, positive impact on the lives of those it serves.
Beyond direct support, the organization celebrates and preserves cultural heritage through events, workshops, and educational initiatives. By partnering with local businesses, organizations, and individual donors, Tierra Vida is creating a network of support to address the critical needs of families and empower the next generation.
Tierra Vida envisions a community where every family has access to the resources they need to thrive, and where youth feel secure, empowered, and prepared for success.
