Fundraiser for Fran and Solveig Sundblad

The Webcomics Community is running this GoFundMe on behalf of our friend Fran Sundblad and her wife Solveig, who was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma.

Fran Sundblad is the creator of the beloved webcomic series Tiff & Eve. Her wife Solveig is a middle school teacher in Southern Minnesota. She is Tiff & Eve’s first and biggest fan.

This summer, both Fran and Solveig received serious medical news. In June, Solveig was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, a type of cancer that affects the lymphatic system. Meanwhile, in July, Fran started experiencing severe hand pain while drawing, typing, or doing any other repetitive movements. She has been prescribed several different medications and tests, but has not found out the cause of the pain.

The good news is that Solveig’s prognosis is very positive. Her oncologists predict that she will be cancer-free at the end of her treatment plan. Fran has also been able to rule out carpal tunnel syndrome as well as nerve damage.

The bad news is that the cost of both of their diagnoses and treatments are adding up quickly. Solvieg has had two surgeries and three chemotherapy treatments so far, on top of the many tests and appointments it took to get diagnosed. Fran has been unable to work since her pain began, and as she seeks a diagnosis and treatment, she doesn’t know when she’ll be able to start drawing again. All of this has been incredibly stressful for them. We am organizing this GoFundMe to try to take away some of that burden.

All funds will go directly to Fran and Solveig to pay their insurance deductible, costs for treatment, pharmacy bills, transportation, and anything else they need to get them through a terrible time.
