Tigray Refugee Mutual Aid
Donation protected
Since November an armed conflict has raged in the Tigray region of the horn of Africa, claimed by the government of Ethiopia, killing thousands and displacing countless more. Fifty thousand people are living in refugee camps in Sudan. The conflict is the culmination of escalation by the federal government of Abiy Ahmed targeting regional ethnic rights, and has taken on the characteristics of ethnic cleansing. We are raising these funds in solidarity with @hornanarchists who are in touch with refugees on the ground, so that they can buy much-needed medical and other aid supplies:
"Our three refugee contacts in Sudan from the genocidal war on Tigray by the Ethiopian and Eritrea regimes, including two doctors providing volunteer medical aid to fellow refugees, have informed us there is a shortage of medical supplies and food in Hamdayet (refugee reception) and Hashama (Village 8 transitory camp). Large numbers of refugees have chosen to stay in Hashama camp, instead of the permanent refugee camp in Um Rakuba, where there are not medical centers operated by UNHCR or other international aid organizations. So our three refugee contacts, along with their fellow refugees, have stepped up to organize mutual aid to offer autonomous medical services. We are planning regular fundraising but this is our first one for our international comrades to help with the refugee struggle. We will try to keep you updated on the needs and struggle of Tigrayan refugees in Sudan and how you can help. Follow @hornanarchists on Twitter for updates on Ethiopia's war on Tigray."
