Tim and Robbie McCarthy

Tim McCarthy is well known to so many because he is a kind, generous, caring and thoughtful person. From decades of working at HSN making people smile by dressing up on holidays and handing our treats to patients, families, staff and volunteers, his daily smiles and greetings and even fundraising for every ICU patient room to have radios - because he believed music was good for patients and families to speed up the healing process. He is also well known in our community as a tireless volunteer for Sudbury Bunny Rescue Room. He also collects and repairs laptops and computers - then giving them to those in need (occasionally selling one to raise funds to cover some costs in order to keep donating them)

So here is why Tim and his family - wife Louise and son Robbie need our help. On July 5, 2024 Robbie's electric wheelchair was stolen from a locked storage room in their apartment building. A total of 3 rooms were broken into and all contents from various tenants were taken. There will be NO insurance money coming to them after this awful event. Robbie is an amazing young man who doesn't let the challenge of Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus slow him down. Robert volunteers for Sudbury Bunny Rescue, Spina Bifida events in town and writes for Sudbury.com covering Sudbury Wolves and Sudbury Five games. His electric wheelchair allows him his independence to do these things and more including attending his medical treatments and appointments on his own. The toll of having to push himself in his wheelchair outside their apartment is already taking a physical toll on his neck, shoulders and arms. His amazing parents are assisting him but this too poses a challenge of navigating hills, ramps and the obstacle courses of sidewalks and roads. Summer is here but winter is around the corner (as we all know) and this will all become more of a challenge.
