Tim Crider & Family Fundraiser

As some of you already know, our friend Tim Crider was recently diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, better known as ALS or Lou Gehrig’s disease. As you can imagine, this diagnosis came as a shock to him and his family. Tim has been married to his beautiful wife, Jana, for 19 years. They have three amazing children, Derrick (22), Matthew (17) and Martina (15). Tim has had a very successful career working in the sales world at Komax Corporation. This diagnosis brings many physical, emotional, and financial challenges beyond what anyone could imagine. We have decided to use GoFundMe to help support Tim and his family through this incredibly difficult journey.

 

ALS is a progressive and terminal disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord causing loss of muscle control. It is also a very rare disease, with only around 5,000 new cases per year in the United States. There is no cure or treatment. We don’t even know what causes it. Because of these unknowns and the scope of its impact, ALS is a costly disease to treat and manage. Estimates range as high as $100,000-$200,000 per year.

 

Due to the issues listed above, the only thing we can do is take steps to improve Tim's and his family’s quality of life. Your donation will help us do precisely that. We aim to raise funds for the following:

 

· Loss of income

 

· Wheelchair-accessible transportation

 

· Extensive retrofitting of his home

 

· Wheelchairs

 

· Medical expenses

 

· Lifts

 

· Communication assistant devices

 

· Caretakers

 

· Other expenses

 

We are all stronger as a community. We are blessed to have Tim, Jana, Derrick, Matthew and Martina as part of that community. As friends, members of St. Michael Church and School, Wheaton residents, Wheaton Warrenville South (GO TIGERS) High School, Komax Corporation and all those who Tim has touched, we are asking for two things:
