Tim Ketterer USS Midway Memorial Bench

May 15th marked 2 years since Tim has gone to Heaven. I have been thinking of a way to memorialize my hero. This year, on his birthday I decided, I want to get him a memorial bench on the USS Midway. Tim served 2 tours on the Midway during Vietnam. Tim was an Airframes Mechanic. He worked on jets! The Midway was Tim's favorite place. He loved to take his friends on tours and being a volunteer on board was a source of pride for him. He was happy to share everything he knew with anyone who asked.

I called the donation department on board The Midway and left a message for Robin. A few weeks later Robin called me and let me know they discontinued the bench plaque program but they had decided to make an exception for Tim.

I am over the moon. We discussed where the bench should be and I gave her a few ideas.

She is going to call me back ASAP and let me know where Tim's bench and plaque will be placed.

I know how you all loved Tim and I know how he touched so many of your lives. Tim was open and accepting of everyone. I never get tired of hearing the stories. He was my hero and he was a truly good man. I thought you all would like to contribute to this wonderful honor for Tim.

My goal is to get the bench, take whoever would like to come down to the Midway and have an unveiling get together. We can walk around, see the bench and take pictures and explore the rest of the Midway.

I am also going to have caps, t-shirts and cycling jerseys made. I will be contacting companies this week, getting quotes and samples.

I will be posting updates on the bench and plaque. Robin is going to be sending me samples. I am going to have to decide what I want the plaque to say. I will also be posting updates on the t shirt and jersey designs.
