Tim St. John was a remarkable and determined young man who touched the lives of many during his short 20 years. His life was deeply rooted in family, friends, and a strong faith in God. Tim had an infectious enthusiasm for life that drew people toward him; his energy and spirit always filled the room! He was selfless, passionate, goal-driven and a natural leader. His love for others, intellectual curiosity, athleticism, and sense of humor will not be forgotten.

Tim was attending Purdue University, having completed his sophomore year as a mechanical engineering student and member of the ATO fraternity. Along with his strong academic accomplishments, Tim competed with the Purdue Triathlon Club and earned national ranking as an All-American with USA Triathlon, a sport he loved with a passion. From Northbrook, Illinois, Tim was a scholar athlete (competing in cross-country, wrestling and track all four years) and was a Young Life senior leader during his time at Glenbrook North High School.

On June 19, 2022, Tim’s life was ended by a careless motorist during a triathlon training ride in North Dakota where he was working in an engineering co-op position.

The Tim St. John Memorial Foundation was created in 2022 to provide an opportunity for Tim’s life and legacy to have a positive impact for decades to come.

The Tim St. John Memorial Foundation will be partnering with organizations that are impactful in helping with the protection and safety of cyclists, runners, and pedestrians on our nation’s roadways through driver education, share the road initiatives, and victim support. The Foundation also supports an annual scholarship for graduating high school seniors in Tim’s hometown of Northbrook, IL, as well as some other local and triathlon-centered causes that were near and dear to Tim’s heart.
