Rally for The Sweeney Family

Hello family and friends,
 
 
We need your help rallying for the Sweeney Family.
 As most of you know, Tim Sweeney, who is a husband, father, son, brother, brother-in-law, son-in-law, uncle, nephew, friend, boss, colleague and all around amazing man, was diagnosed this summer with Stage 3 Esophageal Cancer. Tim. Workout freak. Tim, age 45, with a six pack. Tim. He ran a 5k on a whim the day before he received this news. And placed! It doesn’t make sense. It doesn’t seem right. And yet here he is.
Tim is a family man. He has 2 teenage sons, Ronan and Finn, and a wife, Marybeth, whom he has been with for 30 years now – that’s right – that made them 14 & 15 when they met!  Marybeth has been absolutely amazing sharing this news with us on CaringBridge, and as you may know from the updates, they are getting into it now.


The treatment journey is about to begin– this Monday, Sept 9th, to be exact. Tim will undergo radiation and chemotherapy for the next 5 weeks. He will then have a 4-6 week recovery period before he undergoes major thoracic surgery, where his esophagus will be removed and reconstructed from his stomach. Marybeth will be taking him to and from treatments.
 
Unfortunately even with the best of insurance this treatment is going to be expensive. Tim and Marybeth will be out of work for a long stretch and that’s going to hit them financially. They have a house, children, and…well, life to support. Bills don’t stop because someone gets sick – this doesn’t seem right either. This family, our family, is going to be faced with a tough road ahead and all we want for them is to focus on Tim’s recovery.

Tim is going to kick cancer’s ass!He will beat this. How will he do it? With us - With you! We all ask what can we do? How can we help? Will you let us know what you need? What it comes down to is we can’t do anything except send them positive vibes, prayers, or magical moon wishes. But we can do this! We can take the looming financial worry off of them even for just a little bit. If you know Tim at all you know he is proud. He would never ask for financial help.

We, his sister, and sisters-in-law, are asking for your financial help to support the Sweeneys as they embark on this cancer journey. Your support will aid in paying the mortgage, heating the house, buying groceries, covering medical expenses, etc. Together we can rally and alleviate this burden from the Sweeney family, as they focus their attention on their father and husband in his quest to heal.
