Tim Tawater Spinal Cord Injury Recovery

Donation protected
Accommodations will need to be made to their home for Tim to come home by July 3 in the event that he is released. This means that the house will have to be wheelchair accessible in both the bathroom and the entryways and the other common areas of the house. This also means that they will have to have a wheelchair accessible vehicle as well. This is just two of the major expenses that they're going to incur. Please continue to share so that we can get them the needed accommodations.

From Cher - 04/30 UPDATE : We had our medical conference today , we viewed the MRI and x-rays before and after surgery and he explained the medical part in great detail. Right now the plan is for him to stay in the inpatient rehab part until July 3rd, depending on insurance and the next few weeks as to whether or not he will transfer to the day program and we would be here another 4-6 weeks after July 3rd . We truly won’t know his deficits for a year to year and a half . So our prayer request is healing and swelling to go down in his spinal cord everyday. We believe in miracles and know that God is working one. Thanks for all the calls , texts, cards, visits, food, generous gifts , packages , prayers and all your love that has been shown to us and our family . Love yall

Hello, my name is Beth, and I am Tim Tawater's little sister. This actually made my giggle typing this as I am 45 years old but will always be known as "Tim's little sister." As you may know, Tim and his wife Cher were in an accident on Easter Sunday while on their way home from church. They were hit from behind and were thrown into a culvert and hit a telephone pole. Both Tim and Cher were injured in the accident. Cher thankfully was discharged on Sunday, banged and bruised, but otherwise ok.

Tim on other hand has a spinal cord injury that required emergency surgery Sunday during which the medical team worked to repair Tim's spine at C6, C7 and T1 for his incomplete spinal cord injury. We are hopeful that his surgery will cause Tim to regain his motor function in his hands, legs and feet as right now he is paralyzed from his waist down. He does have some sensation in his legs. This will be a marathon process for him. He will likely spend several more weeks at Skyline where he is currently in the Trauma ICU receiving excellent care. From here, he will continue to step down into a regular room once he is stable enough and then he will transfer to The Shepherd Center in Atlanta for inpatient rehab that will likely be five to six weeks.

We do not what the future holds, but we do know the ONE who holds it, and we TRUST GOD to walk with us through each and every step and we will give him the glory for Tim's complete healing.

People want to know how they can help and the best way to help right now is with prayer and financially. Tim is a retired Metro Nashville Fireman and Cher is retired from Baptist Hospital. Their income is retirement and handyman side work that Tim does to subsidize his retirement income. As you can imagine, this is a huge financial strain and we do not want them worried about expenses during this time. We just want them to be focused on healing and recovery.

Thank you in advance for your help, your prayers, and your love.

Love, Beth
