Tim's Fight Against Stage IV Cancer

Donation protected
Friends and Family -

Please consider making a donation for my brother- in -law Tim aka Timmy Clukey who has been diagnosed with an advanced stage of cancer (aka Stage IV) at age 38. Here is the crazy thing - here I am a 4 year cancer “survivor” writing a gofundme for my brother in law who has a cancer diagnosis at the same age I was diagnosed. His story and my story, although different cancers and staging, have very similar parallel worlds and therefore can only mean one thing….he will continue to thrive and be a "survivor", too!

What started with what he thought was IBS or indigestion is actually Cancer. After seeing his primary care physician and getting an ultrasound of the area - they found some suspect areas on his liver. He then had an MRI where they confirmed nodules (tumors) in the liver and peritoneal cavity. Initial diagnosis was Peritoneal Carcinomatosis with unknown origins. After a clear CT scan, Colonoscopy and Endoscopy they were still unable to find the origin of these tumors. Initial biopsy reports suggested it was coming from the Pancreatic Bile Ducts and therefore the current diagnosis is Cholangiocarcinoma.  Timmy will be receiving a Pet Scan to see which areas light up, hoping to further solidify where exactly the cancer is originating because the liver and peritoneal tumors are thought to be secondary tumors as metastasis. He is also getting a 2nd and 3rd opinion to ensure they have the correct diagnosis to perform the best treatments. So that you don’t have to google: Cholangiocarcinoma is cancer that forms in the slender tubes (bile ducts) that carry the digestive fluid bile. Bile ducts connect your liver to your gallbladder and to your small intestine. The distal region of the bile ducts is made up of the common bile duct which passes through the pancreas and ends in the small intestine.

When people are diagnosed with Stage IV cancer, one is told there is no cure, you can only put it into remission and stave it off until the inevitable. Well, this isn’t the goal for Timmy. Timmy has every chance to put this bad boy to bed and reach NED (No Evidence of Disease) and before you say “can he really do that?, “is that even possible?”. Well YES, YES he CAN and he WILL!!! Others have!!! Timmy has no choice either, because he and his future bride are to tie the knot this coming spring and he has promised his fiance to by her side until she is 85, which means he will need to be around until his 90’s.

Timmy has a big battle on his hands. But as you all know, that is one thing Timmy is familiar with “putting up a ferocious fight” and being a survivor when life throws blows at him. Timmy is planning on taking a multifaceted approach to heal his body from Cancer. With the help of conventional treatments (chemotherapy/immunotherapy/clinical trials) and holistic treatments together working synchronous, the goal is to get Timmy to sway the very unfavorable statistics and be a success story that others can use for hope. Here is where we need YOUR HELP. While he has pretty awesome insurance from work, when you have stage IV cancer, fighting and healing from Cancer becomes your new full-time job. Therefore, Timmy has taken a leave of absence from work to focus on himself and his health. Here is the thing, if you’ve known Timmy for a long time, you know he has paid his dues to finally get to a place to become financially stable. Then this!

Your donation will go towards helping him with accumulating medical expenses like copays, deductibles and with the holistic and nutritional side of treatments which are rarely and never paid for by insurance. These treatments through the guidance of several MDs & Naturopathic Doctors will include supplements to boost his immune response by revitalizing his minerals and nutrients he may be depleted in and others that help fight cancer.  His treatments will/may also include high dose vitamin C IVs, acupuncture, massage, infrared saunas, ozone therapy, hyperthermia therapy and future treatments can include heading to clinics outside of the country. While none of these are a cure for cancer, many people have beaten cancer using these modalities. We will continue to fight until Timmy is healed!

Timmy will also be moving to a more plant based diet with lots and lots of vegetables. If you are not able or prefer not to make a donation on gofundme, no worries. Consider a gift card to Imperfect Produce or Costco to purchase bulk produce or any of the places listed would also help him while he is out of the home and needs to get nutrition. Places like Emerald City Smoothie, FIT BAR Superfood Cafe, Nature’s Market, Marlene’s Market & Deli, Whole Foods and Jamba Juice.  If you prefer to make a food donation- awesome! Organically grown produce like cucumber, celery, power greens, ginger, tumeric, carrots, beets, broccoli, etc. are great too! Meal deliveries from GreenChef, Sun Basket, Home Chef, HelloFresh, Freshly, etc.  will also be extremely beneficial during treatment. Please do not feel bad if you cannot make a donation - because you can still help with his healing through the power of prayer and positivity. If you see Timmy, share stories of people you’ve met or heard of who conquered this illness and are living! Talk about future plans with him and what life will be like after he has healed. Take him to lunch and order a salad with him, or drink a nutritious smoothie with him, or take a wheatgrass shot with him. Meal train foods that are organic, mostly plant based or grass fed/wild caught meat, poultry and fish are ok. At this time he is currently avoiding sugars (sorry no sweets) because sugar feeds cancer.

Here is the deal, we are  surrounding Timmy with love, care, and people who are going to positively impact his life for no other reason than truly ‘life is short’ - regardless if you have Cancer or not. Thank you everyone who took the time to read this and for the help! We are genuinely grateful and humbled by your support! #TeamTim
