After suffering from severe abdominal pain, Trevor was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer in December of 2020 at the age of 39. Over the past 4+ years, Trevor has undergone numerous surgeries, rounds of chemo, radiation, holistic, and alternative treatments in an attempt to slow the progression of the disease. Despite these efforts, the cancer has spread to his liver, lungs, and bones. Particularly in the last 9 months, pain has been a constant companion as Trevor lives alongside this disease. Still, Trevor remains determined to live his life in the most authentic of ways. After a reflective 3 month chemo break, Trevor has decided to continue on with various new treatments and pain management therapies.
Trevor is an intensely passionate person. He worked for many years as a wilderness backcountry ranger. When cancer took him away from that work, he began investing in his local Port Townsend community; working for various conservation organizations and our local YMCA. He finds his greatest peace when he's immersed in the mountains, exploring the backcountry on foot or bike. He adamantly opposes driving anywhere within biking or public transportation distance; and if he could, would spend every day hiking, trail building, playing pickleball, or rowing in the Salish Sea. Even before his diagnosis, he was known to seize every opportunity life offers him and continues to do so, despite daily challenges he faces. Trevor truly lives his life with intention.
Throughout this journey, his incredible partner, Paige, has been his unwavering support. She has navigated the overwhelming logistics of his care, researched treatments and clinical trials, and continued to run her own therapy private practice full-time to support their lives. Even amid the overwhelming chaos and pain they are facing, Paige would drop everything to help a friend in need—she is deeply compassionate and cares profoundly for those around her.
These two are inspiring individuals who are going through the most challenging time any of us can imagine.
As Trevor begins a new phase of treatments and pain management therapies, they’re confronted with huge medical bills that are not covered by insurance, along with the costs of travel between their home in Port Townsend and Seattle multiple times each week. Trevor can no longer work in the same capacity, and Paige has had to cut back her hours to manage his care. On top of it all, the normal bills of life continue.
Above all else, time is precious. Trevor and Paige have openly shared how deeply grateful they are for the support they have already received. However, as their close friends, we have continued to witness how hard they have to work day to day in order to still have a meaningful life. We have heard the desires of others who have sought an invitation to support, and if we can ease the financial burden of medical expenses, Trevor and Paige can focus on what really matters right now - spending time with family and friends, and enjoying this beautiful place they call home. Without the overwhelming stress of mounting bills, we can give them more freedom of time, which is the greatest gift we can offer on their continued journey.
Thank you so much for your support. Your contribution, no matter the size, is a huge gift to these two beautiful souls.
