Time to help ol Wayne make a Cancer comeback!

Donation protected
Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted supporters,

I did not ask Wayne if I could do this. If you know Wayne, you know he would’ve maybe said “No, I don’t wanna bother anybody.” Haha! That’s why I didn’t ask him! I want him to feel the love and support we all have for him and his family and I know this effort will help free up his mind to focus on the only thing that matters right now. The fight for his life.

I’m reaching out to you today with a heavy heart to share the news of Wayne Selph's recent diagnosis.

Wayne was rushed to the emergency room at Shands on Monday after feeling horrible over the weekend.

He has been diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia Monocytic (AML). AML is a relentless and aggressive form of cancer, and Wayne is now facing the most challenging battle of his life. Without treatment the doctors gave him 2 months to live. This is an ever-changing situation but as of now he will be at Shands for at least 5 weeks as he undergoes chemotherapy and treatment.

As if things couldn’t possibly get worse, today it was discovered that he has Aortic Stenosis and will need Open Heart surgery after going through chemo. The doctors couldn’t believe that the heart condition wasn’t bringing him into the hospital before the cancer! Shands has been doing a great job so far and the Head of Cardiology met with him today and is optimistic about the heart surgery.

Wayne is a beloved husband, father, and friend, known for his warm heart, infectious fun-loving personality, unwavering determination and really funny jokes.

Wayne has always been there for others, whether it's offering a helping hand or a shoulder to lean on. From coaching youth sports to volunteering every week for lunch duty at the Rock School, Wayne has done it all. Now he needs our support more than ever.

The road ahead will be filled with rigorous treatments, hospital stays, and the emotional toll that comes with fighting cancer. Wayne's family is committed to standing by his side. But the financial burden of living life, medical bills, medications, and ongoing care is going to be immense.

Wayne has always been on the giving side of caregiving. He has encompassed more duties and responsibilities than most could handle or even imagine. As many know, he has been the main caregiver for his own family’s medical needs on a daily basis. This has been the first time he has been unable to care for their many needs.

As the sole provider for his family, Wayne has served thousands of local families throughout the community through his business, CremationsOnly. He has lived his life for many years being on-call, 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, for families in their time of need. He has been a shoulder for many to cry on and the man that has made the death of loved ones as easy as possible for so many families.

He has built a wonderful business because people knew when they called, Wayne always answered the phone and was the one with them every step of the process. Not employees, Wayne did everything. Without Wayne, the business cannot currently operate or continue to bring in any income at a time it is most needed.

With a certain future of being unable to work for the next many months, and a more uncertain future after that, now is the time to help take any financial pressure and burden we can off of Wayne, Dot, Cason and Savannah.

This GoFundMe campaign has been created to rally around Wayne and his family during this difficult time. Your generous contributions will help alleviate the financial stress, allowing Wayne to focus on what truly matters – fighting for his life and his recovery. Every dollar counts, and your support, no matter how big or small, will make a significant difference in Wayne's journey to beat AML. Together, we can give Wayne, Dot, Cason and Savannah the hope, strength, and resources he needs to conquer this battle and return to the loving family and community that cherishes him.

Even if you are unable to give, please share this campaign with your friends and on facebook, etc to help us spread the word and reach our fundraising goal.

Your prayers, words of encouragement, and donations are deeply appreciated. Let's come together as a community to lift Wayne Selph and his family in their time of need.

As I’m sure you understand, this is all shocking and very recent. At this time, Wayne’s health is so compromised, he is unable to take phone calls or visitors. A supportive text would be OK. We want him to be overwhelmed with love and support, but he is in no condition to take phone calls or answer questions.

I saw him last night and he told me his nurse, Adrienne, told him she didn’t want to take her 4 days off. She told him “he makes her feel good” :) He also told me he’s “working on coming up with a good joke for the doctors” and “IS READY TO BEAT THIS!”

Thank you for your unwavering support and prayers.
