HELP MAKE A NEW ROMI MAYES ALBUM!

Hey all! For those of you that know me, thanks for checking this GoFundMe out. For those that don’t, I’m musician Romi Mayes. Now in my 40s, I’ve been recording and performing for about 30 years. I have garnered 3 WCMA awards for Songwriter of the Year, 3 for Album of The Year, 1 for Blues Artist of the Year, and multiple other nominations including a Juno nomination for Roots Album of The Year. I have toured the globe solo, duo, and full band from living rooms to stadiums.

In March 2024 it will be 9 years since my last album release. The drastically changing music industry, making it harder than ever for musicians to make a living, had most definitely slowed my determination and inspiration for recording an album but I’m presently more ready than I’ve ever been. I’ve been working on songs I’ve written over the last 9 years and am more creatively driven than I have been in a very long time.

The only obstacle left in putting forward some of my best work is the expense of making this darn thing.

Let’s be honest: Music is free now. 100% free.

There will be very little chance of recouping any expenses through record sales, as was the case previously in my career.

So, instead of asking you to buy an album that Spotify/Apple Music/YouTube Music will give you for free with the click of a button, I am asking if you’ll buy INTO THE MAKING of this album instead.

It takes a village, and my friends, you are my village. Even every $10 helps.

With your help, and with the help of my amazing band and Winnipeg music cohorts, Edmonton’s Scott Franchuk as engineer, and the one and only Twisty joining me as co-producer, I promise you that this March, at No Fun Club studio in my hometown of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, I will record my best album yet.
