Tim Harrington's Support Fund
Donation protected
Tim Harrington took a year off to build schools for his foundation, TanziCare. Tim is described by co-workers as the heart of TanziCare, a friend who presents textbooks to students, encourages teachers, and participates in classrooms. He lives among the people valuing their culture, sharing meals in their homes, cultivating community gardens, and finding humor in using local transportation. Tim is building more than schools; he is building bridges of friendship and trust. He has educated his followers and brought us to a higher level of caring; he has shown us universal themes in the art work of Tanzania and heightened our awareness of protecting the rights of animals to live in their natural habitat. Success for Tim is connecting with people and letting other people shine.
The problem began with a leg injury from hitting coral rocks while diving in Zanzibar causing an infection, but Tim continued with his work in Tanzania. Taking a break, Tim enjoyed a successful "Run with the Bulls" in Pamplona. The next day he fell, seriously hitting his head. Once at the hospital in Spain, they discovered Tim had cerebral malaria, which was what caused the fall and head injury. He was rushed into surgery to relieve pressure in his brain and was then placed into a medically induced coma.
**Update**
Tim passed away on July 28th with his father, Mike, by his side. All donations exceeding Tim's medical bills will be used to fund TanzaCare and other projects that Tim was currently working on in both Africa and Florida. Thank you for your support.
