Timmy Hill Liver Transplant Expences
Donation protected

Timmy and I are very proud people and this hurts our hearts to have to ask friends and family for help. On March 17th of this year, Timmy Hill was admitted into AGH with a case of encephalopathy, encephalopathy is high ammonia levels, causing confusion of the brain, this was due to liver failure. He did not even know my name, and we have been married 20 years. He went into a coma and at that time his kidneys started to fail because they were working to do what the liver should be doing. After 3 days of imminent death pending, I fought to have him moved to another hospital. He was moved to University of MD where he remained in a coma for 5 more days, when he came to he was not mentally himself. He was moved to Johns Hopkins in Baltimore 2 days later, where they began his liver transplant work up and a lot of physical and mental therapy. Timmy was placed on the liver transplant list on April 2nd. He remained in Johns Hopkins until April 25th.

Throughout this whole ordeal I have been on family medical leave, utilizing my accumulated sick and vacation time. Unfortunately, now I have only one week remaining of paid leave to get us through the rest of this daunting process. This is why we are asking for help with paying our bills, mortgage, gas and parking expense to Johns Hopkins for weekly transplant clinic meetings. When Timmy receives a new liver he will be hospitalized for 7 to 10 days and at least another 6 weeks of recovery. During this time I will be on un-paid medical leave. I went back to work on the May 5th and will continue to work until a transplant occurs.

Timmy is home and stable at this time and is receiving paracentesis two times per week, this is to drain fluid build up from his abdomen. To let you know how bad it is he had 17 liters drained on May 12th, which is 37.5 pounds. He has lost a lot of weight, with the exception of the constant fluid accumulation in his abdomen, and now he is constantly cold from the loss of so much fat and muscle.
We are currently waiting on results from Johns Hopkins to see if his daughter Kassy is a match to donate half of her liver to her Daddy, if so the surgery could take place within the month. Timmy has received two deceased donor liver offers already, one while an inpatient at Johns Hopkins only to have surgery called off last minute becauset results showed that donated liver had cancer. The other time we got to the bay bridge and it was called off. The transplant organization did not offer an explanation as to why.
We have 4 grandchildren, Patrick 12, Lauren 10, Savannah 2 and Kayleigh will be 1 in July. Timmy and I have a lot to live for, graduations, weddings, and great grandchildren. So we are asking our friends and family for financial help be able to have a place to come home to and recover from this. Any amount would be greatly appreciated and we would forever be indebted to you for your gift.

With love and hope for the future,
Timmy and Fletta Hill
