Dearest Friends & Family,
(Posted on behalf of our parents.)

I am Jo-Ann, and my partner is John. This year has brought immense sorrow to our family, and we are reaching out to you with humility to ask for your support.

At the beginning of 2023, my son Timothy lost his son. He was our precious grandson, a twinkle in our eyes, and we were devastated by the news of our new angel. We have been grieving this heart-wrenching loss, and just when we thought the darkest days were behind us, another blow struck last week.

Timothy had moved back home to seek support and was slowly healing from the grief. Despite his loss, he was looking forward to returning to his construction work in the coming months as a distraction. Our last conversation with Timothy was about sleeping arrangements, and as anyone who knew him would know, it was a spirited discussion. He went to bed and left early the next morning to meet a friend for coffee, as they were supporting each other through their life challenges.

Thursday, April 6th started like any other morning. We went about our usual routine, and I returned home from work around 11:30 pm. Timothy often texted when he was running late, so I expected a message from him saying he was on his way home. But there was no message, and I began to feel concerned, though I assumed he might have stayed with his uncle, as he often did.

Then came Good Friday. John and I woke up that morning, and he asked me if I had heard from Timothy. I replied, “no, he’s probably with his uncle,” but my concern was growing because Timothy never missed a special occasion meal. John turned on the news and heard about a car accident on the 410 around 1 am. It being Good Friday, I asked him to turn off the news as it was a religious holiday, and I didn’t want any negativity. We were looking forward to spending time with our granddaughter Emma, Timothy’s daughter, not only for Easter but also for her birthday.

Shortly after the news of the accident, I received a Facebook messenger notification. Someone informed me that the OPP (Ontario Provincial Police) was trying to contact me. Just as I was about to pick up the phone, there was a knock on our front door. It was every parent’s worst nightmare. Three OPP officers stood there to deliver the devastating new that the male passenger who had passed away in the news story we had just watched was my son, Timothy.

I cannot fathom how anyone copes with the loss of a child. I pray that no one ever has to endure the pain and grief that our family is currently grappling with. This tragic accident has also brought upon us a significant financial burden. And now, I am humbly asking for donations to help us cope with the debt we have to incur for the funeral costs.

On behalf our family and myself, we express our heartfelt gratitude in advance for your generosity. Your support will undoubtedly alleviate the burden on our family during these trying times.

Funds will be used to cover all funeral costs, and any excess funds will be divided among his children.

With deep appreciation, Jo-Anne, John and Family
