You might have heard of the death of a pedestrian on Kildare and Tecumseh earlier this month.

That was my dad.

On April 8th, my dad was struck and killed as a pedestrian by a car while he was crossing the street to see my mom in the hospital. He was killed instantly.

His passing was sudden and has shocked my family beyond words. He was the pillar of our family and breadwinner for our family my entire life. He had just started working again as a bodyman at a local collision shop to bring home a little extra money for him and my mom.

He was a very simple man with only a few requests- cremation, a simple, private service and not too many tears over his passing.

We are asking for support to assist my mom to stay independent in her apartment for as long as she can. Any help that can be provided so we can fulfill my dad's final resting wishes is greatly appreciated and would alleviate the financial stress brought on by his sudden passing.

Finally, please take a moment to consider a few things:

1) Please be extra careful while you're driving because it only takes one mistake to have a horrible accident and

2) Never take your loved ones for granted.

Daddy, I never thought it would end this way. I miss and love you so much. You were on your way to take care of mom and I promise she will be taken care of.
