On Tuesday November 5, 2019 Timothy went into work not knowing that shortly after getting to his job, (delivering for Amazon),...his life would change dramatically that very day.
As a retired EMT, when his symptoms hit, Timothy knew exactly what was happening.... he was having a stroke at the young age of 43.
As he got to work he began scanning packages for his deliveries, he would soon realize that he was stumbling and not be able to hold his self up. He got the attention of a coworker which knew something was wrong and offered to drive him to the hospital. Tim went into EMT mode and was going to check his pulse till he couldn’t feel his arm. He knew right away and was able to verbalize “call 911” even though his speech was slurred. Through quick response and excellent treatment from his coworker to EMT and first responders, from ER to ICU he has been blessed with amazing care. Along with this care comes medical bills. All the Repetitive C.T. scans to check the bleeding in his brain, central lines, medications, Physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, tube feedings, lab draws ever 6 hours and I’m sure tons more. All these things plus the long road of rehab, will definitely add up to a hefty bill. The Dr said the first 6 months of rehab is crucial and that is when you see the most improvement.
What was a two income household has now decreased to one. Timothy’s wife Julie is a 4th grade teacher in Mesquite ISD. This financial burden is now on her shoulders. She is an awesome teacher that loves everyone of her kids. They need her, but it is unknown at this time when she will return to her kids. If you are able, any donations would help relieve some of these unforeseen financial burdens.
A few stroke facts from cdc.gov:
* Stroke risk increases with age, but strokes can—. and do—occur at any age.
* Someone in the United States has a stroke every 40 seconds.
* Every 4 minutes, someone dies of stroke.
* Stroke is the No. 5 cause of death and leading cause of disability in the United States
