January 7, 2024 we lost a giant.

For those that know my dad Timothy Washington, you know he has been a lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan. After years of living across the country, I finally got tickets for my Dad and I to attend the season finale, in Washington, DC with the NFC East title on the line. He took the train in from Connecticut to Jersey Friday night and we drove down to DC the night before.

He was so excited. We chilled that morning talking about football, life, politics, and how good it was to finally do a guys trip together. We took a drive around DC, had a nice lunch, and made our way to the game. His first ever NFL game. The first of many, so we thought. First time ever seeing his beloved Cowboys. About 100 yards away with the stadium in sight, my Dad collapsed and ultimately passed away minutes later. He died in my arms. We tried everything we could. Life just isn't fair.

Our family will never be the same... 100 yards away pop. I am so sorry. I love you more than anything and I miss you already.

I want to honor my father the best way that we can. I started a memorial fund on his behalf and plan to distribute a yearly scholarship in our hometown of Bristol, CT for underprivileged students as well as yearly back to school clothing and Christmas donations for underprivileged families in the area. I was once one of those kids.
