Tim’s Colon Cancer Treatment & Recovery

Hi, my name is Rebecca Adkins and I set up this gofundme for my father, Tim Adkins. Tim is a husband to my mom, Tracy, and they have 8 children together (2 of whom still live at home with him and my mom). Those who know my father know that he is a man of faith and is the backbone of the family, along with my mother. He is an incredible, giving person and is always willing to help others no matter what. He is our everything.

In May 2023, my dad abruptly found out that he has colon cancer after having some GI issues for a few months. It was learned that he has a large mass (larger than the size of a golf ball) in his colon. On June 19th, 2023, he had surgery to remove the cancerous mass. We are still awaiting pathology reports for the surrounding lymph nodes. What was supposed to be a 2-3 hour laparoscopic surgery, turned out to be a 5 hour invasive surgery due to complications that we did not expect. He now has a very large incision that starts from his lower chest & goes down to below his lower abdomen. He also has to use a colostomy bag for the time being that he was not expecting either. He is still currently inpatient at the hospital in Cleveland. He has to have another surgery in August 2023. His surgeon stated that this was one of the most difficult operations she’s had to do.

This is the second major surgery my dad has had to endure so far in the past 7 months. In November 2022, he had back surgery that he was still recovering from when he found out about this colon cancer. Prior to all of this, my dad has lead a healthy life.

Due to the unforeseen complications, my dad is going to be off work for longer than anyone could have anticipated. Any donations made will go towards his current & future medical expenses/treatment, copays, missed work, prescriptions, etc.

In light of these circumstances, please consider donating to help Tim so that he can focus on recovery & healing. He continues to remain positive and my mom/our family is with him everyday for support. This has been very hard on not only my dad, but our entire family.
