Tina Lancaster & Family
Hi, my name is Shari DeVaard and I am writing this on behalf of our friends, the Lancaster family. Tina has been battling cancer since 2015 and has gone through 4 very invasive surgeries. During these past few years she's had ongoing infusions every 3 weeks which cause similar side effects as chemo. Through all of this her kind spirit and unwavering positivity bring joy to everyone she encounters.
Tina had a major set back this month (November 2019) when rapid swelling in her neck occurred overnight. The swelling doubled in size the next day and she went to the ER, resulting in her surgeon ordering emergency surgery. The surgery took 8 hours and they had to remove more than they expected. After four weeks with staples in her neck/shoulder & two drains in her neck they were able to remove the staples and drains. Unfortunately, this surgery brought with it the terrible reality that this battle is far from over for Tina and her family.
They have been facing this constant medical stress and financial burden for many years, but now they were hit with the most devastating news, that Tina will have to start chemo and radiation on *update* the 23rd of December. She will have radiation for 35 days straight and she will be unable to work during this time. Combined with this last surgery/recovery, she will be missing months of work & income. Tina has insurance but there are still many medical and unexpected expenses that come with this treatment.
We are raising this money to
1. Cover Tina's insurance deductible (January 2020)
2. Out of pocket costs
3. Loss of wages
We want to help them face this new challenge with all the extra love and support we can. Alleviating some of this financial burden will help their family be able to focus more on Tina's healing.
If you would prefer to send a check please call/text me for their mailing address at [phone redacted]. If you are unable to donate money or just want to do a little extra to help, please share this link on social media, sharing this really does make a difference! Feel free to also reach out to any of the fundraising friends, Shari DeVaard, Jennifer Carr, Kelsey Gooden, Kari Carver.
Thank you for joining us on this mission to bring love and support to this beautiful family in need.
With love,
Shari

Many of you who know Tina only get to see her when she is in better health, after she recovered from a surgery completely, not immediately after surgery or after one of her many infusion days. We are only sharing these photos (with Tina's permission of course) to let everyone in on the reality of the situation. These photos are from the most recent (emergency) surgery. Tina will have to keep these drains in for over four weeks while she recovers and prepares for radiation and chemo. Tina is hands down the toughest AND kindest woman I know. She brings joy to everyone that is around her and is always there to help lift people up when they need it most. Now it's our turn to help her. Thank you for reading this far!
