Tina’s Rally Against Cancer
Friends, loved ones, & kind strangers passing through;
Meet Tina; *military wife, beloved mom of 3 (plus all of her kids’ friends who call her mom!), teacher daughter, sister, friend, fighter.
Tina was recently diagnosed with stage 3 Invasive Lobular Carcinoma. For everyone who’s stomach just dropped reading that (because it sounds really scary), let’s explain a little: ILC affects 10-15% of breast cancer patients
and is trickier to detect and fight and has a risk of spreading to the lymph nodes and other areas of the body.
On January 6th, 2017, Tina was diagnosed with ILC in addition to finding out that her MRI showed abnormal lymph nodes and uterine tumors. January 6th, 2017 is the day that Tina’s rally to beat cancer began.
Tina’s first major surgery took place February 16th. She underwent a double mastectomy, during which the doctors removed over 26 lymph nodes, including the one that tested positive for cancer. Thank God for a successful surgery and that of those 26 lymph nodes removed, only 1 tested positive for cancer!
The next step of treatment is another major surgery, a complete hysterectomy, on March 8th to remove the uterine tumors.
After surgeries, Tina is likely facing chemo, radiation and life long use of medications in order to stop any further spreading of cancer.
Since her diagnosis, Tina has faced every doctor’s appointment, test, scan, pathology report, and surgery with a spirit of Grace, kindness, hope and fight against this cancer.
Cancer burdens our bodies, hearts, and minds. In addition to the emotional and physical toll treatment will take, Tina and Dan will also very likely be facing around $50,000 in medical bills and lost wages.
We are starting this page to show our support and love for Tina, Dan, Katie, Rachel, & Ryan, and to help carry their financial burdens in whatever way we are able to.
We would ask that you would walk alongside us in praying for and supporting the family with the medical expenses for Tina’s treatment.
The road towards healing and recovery is going to be a long one, but we are hopeful and prayerful for the days to come.
Any help is appreciated more than you know. Your prayers, well-wishes, and love have and will continue to support Tina and her family as they continue on this fight.
