Tina's Chemotherapy Treatment

Hi, my name is Alaina and I am fundraising for my stepmom Tina Bowman. Tina has been in my life for over 13 years now. She is someone who will be there for anyone at the drop of a pin. Throughout my years knowing Tina she has not only been someone I look up to but someone I always rely on. Tina was diagnosed in 2012 with Hurthle cell thyroid cancer. This cancer is continuing to rapidly grow and simply won't go away. Tina has gone through 6 surgeries to get tumors removed and they keep coming back. This past year Tina has gone through 45 radiation treatments and she is now starting chemotherapy. These surgeries and radiation treatments have had terrible side effects such as burning scars, no saliva, loss of hair, trouble eating and much more.

Despite all of these side effects that Tina is experiencing, she continues to be an inspiration to her colleagues. Tina is a Rochester City School District mentor who works with new and veteran teachers throughout the whole district. In this role, she has new teachers that she takes under her wing to help them be successful in their first year. Despite her daily medical battles, she is always there to support new and old colleagues in providing exceptional education to children of all ages.

I am starting this go fund me account because the medical bills are becoming too expensive. The chemotherapy pills have a copay of $5,700 a month along with numerous doctor appointments she has to go to. This treatment is a 12-month long battle and it will not end there.
