Tiny Homes for Yonkers Homeless, Vets & Displaced

It's no secret that the homeless situation in Yonkers, New York is not only devastating, but it's consistently on the rise now more than ever before due to covid-19. People who have never before been homeless are now experiencing homelessness as well and in a city that claims to lead with what's in the best interest of their community. Imagine waking up in the street and getting ready to go into work and how discouraging and depressing of a reality it is for so many. As a community we need to take action in all of the places the city and public officials are not!
Several cities are now adopting the idea of building tiny homes for the homeless within their communities and I think this is perfect for Yonkers as there is a ton of unused land. Along with the creation of the homes, land for farming and farmers market should be set aside so that there's is always food. As a human being, I cannot understand how we are okay seeing people suffer right before our eyes, yet we do nothing about it daily. We must help our people by any means necessary!
For a consecutive 4 years I watched our County Legislators place blame on each other when questioned about the homeless situation and why there is no one helping them. It's time for us to stand up as a community and say no more! No more suffering for our community members, no more going without food and warmth, no more surviving through the harsh winter months outdoors like wild animals! I've been feeding the homeless, I've been providing clothing and warmth, and I've also been providing hope! To sit and talk to these amazing people and see how brilliant some of them are makes me sad. Often when you are homeless you are misjudged or called a "bum" and often times it's not the cares, life happens and things fall apart, as human beings we are here to help each other pick up the pieces.
We want everyone on Yonkers to have a warm, clean, and sad I have to say this but an indoor place to stay. Yonkers has the money, the land, and also several vacant buildings.... There is no excuse for the delay in helping the very people you swore to serve!
