Tips for Teeney

Donation protected

Have you ever had the pleasure of knowing a kind soul that just continually gives their all?  Someone that despite any personal pitfalls, they always find a way to pitch in, help, and not only offer but actually give their last 2 cents.

Teeney is that person for us.

She has worked hard all her life and has opened her life up to 2 children in the DHS system which she currently has adopted.  She also took care of 2 h=of her nephews providing them with a home food clothing whatever they needed.  She has a disorder Ehrlos Danlos which unfortunately forced her into disability and eventually make her wheelchair bound.  She has weakening muscles, bones, and heart.  Even with this she still remained positive caring for 4 children and babysitting many family members when needed.  She never said no and believed that if she could do it then God will provide her with the strength.  She has a loving heart and gives to so many but never asks or expects anything in return.

And it is now time for us to ralley together to help the forever helper.  Even now, she isn't asking for help after 50+ years of always giving so SSSHHHH!  She doesn't know aobut this, and surely wouldn't ask, it's just not in her to do that.

In 2019 a house fire took the lives of 2 people a couple doors away from Teeney's rowhome.  A home that she has made handicap accessible knowing she would need it in the future.  Her house was affected and through the blessing of God none of her family was injured.

Teeney's house and belongings were significantly damaged to the point of no return and needed to be discarded.  She still never asked for help knowing that her and the 4 children had nothing.  She was just happy that all her family was not
injured.   At this very moment the once lively and busy home is and has been sitting an empty gutted shell for almost a year.  And now, L&I threatens to fine her          $3000.00/day.

Yes, insurance had come to the rescue, but unfortunately we've found out the hard way that even before the fire turned to embers, vultures were circling above and amongst the crowd.  All of the adjusters and restoration units were there that evening and the next morning not giving her the time to think and process.  They played on the emotions of someone that just lost everything making promises that would not be fulfilled.

Repair contracts were arranged and signed....the work to restart and rebuild had begun.  But shortly after it all came to a screeching halt.  Contractors did not obtain proper permits even though she paid them specifically for this.  Unfortunately she trusted those promises expecting just to return to her home that she worked      so hard for.  Teeney isn't a contractor, she is isn't savvy with the terms, the legality, the permits and licenses, etc.   She trusted those promises and unfortunately it now has caused her to the point she may loose her home.

We've heard similar stories before on the news or in passing.  You just don't want to think something like this can happen to you or your loved ones:  The contractors lied.  Licenses were expired.  Insurance policies were fabricated.  Permits weren't pulled.  Zoning wasn't done.  The laborers incompetent.  The work was unsafe.  Code wasn't followed.  Many thousands of the insurance monies gone and with the L&I threat she stands to lose everything she's built, her home, her life.   She has made every attempt to find help and obtain the correct permits but unfortunately it is a very difficult process when you are not a contractor and do not have the proper information. Covid made the process even more difficult.  She has reached out to many including L&I, inspectors, councilmen O'Neill, Senators and even directors
L&I and no help or assistance.

Marjorie 'Teeney' Rothermel has always had a tough life.  Born with a life-limited physical disability she was always set aside from the norm.   Bullied her entire life because of a disability and taken advantage of.   She's endured the blood sweat tears and pain you and I couldn't even imagine.  Yet she pressed on keeping the pain inside and a smile on her face, patience of a saint, and a big beautiful heart.

Fast forward to recent years.  Teeney unable to continue working, now on a fixed income.  And despite coming short financially each month, she answered the call to foster, house, care for, guide  and teach the various children of immediate and distant families.  At any given time no less than 5 children and a max of 10 lived or were watched by Teeney.  All done without pay and just out of the generosity of her heart.  And with her last 2 cents she gave to each of them.

Many family and friend, even myself, has urged her to think of herself.  She always retorts, "if I can help, I'm gonna".  As our Mom (who passed away 3 years ago)Proof of the event  once said "You can't out give God and He will always provide".  Living by those words

Many thanks for taking the time to visit this page, and read about the love and life of Teeney.  Please kindly consider any contribution.  If you can't financially help, spread the news, pray for her.

Sincerely
Vernon and Cheyenne Kalugdan
