Tips for Tonia

Hi everyone,

I’m reaching out on behalf of my dear friend, Tonia, someone who has faced more challenges in her life than most of us could imagine. Despite everything, Tonia remains a loving, compassionate, and selfless person who is always there for others. Now, she needs our help to rebuild her life and create a safe, stable future for herself and her son.

Tonia’s health has always been a struggle. She lives with multiple conditions, including fibromyalgia, asthma, ADHD, anxiety, depression, CPTSD, and autism, alongside other medical challenges. These difficulties, combined with a history of trauma and neglect, have made everyday life incredibly tough for her. Despite all of this, she’s done everything she can to care for her son and her beloved cat, even when the odds are stacked against her.

Right now, Tonia is living in a static home that is falling apart. It’s unsafe, constantly flooding, and lacks basic essentials like warm water, heating and reliable electricity. The mould and damp worsen her asthma, and she’s barely able to meet basic needs like heating and food. On top of that, old debts and an unreliable car add to the constant financial and emotional stress.

Tonia has tried every avenue for help, but the system has let her down time and time again, after applying for grants and bursaries despite her best efforts to work with adult social care, mental health services, and housing authorities, she’s been neglected, misdiagnosed, and dismissed. As a result, she’s been left to navigate all of this on her own, with no meaningful support.

Here’s how we can make a real difference for Tonia:

Help her find a safe, secure home for herself and her son, free from the constant stress of unsafe living conditions.

Cover basic needs like heating, food, and utilities so she can focus on rebuilding her life.

Address old debts and access legal aid to pursue compensation for the neglect she’s endured.

Ensure she has the professional and emotional support needed to manage her health, daily life, and the weight of past traumas.

Help with car repairs, as her independence heavily depends on it.

Tonia is an amazing mother, a devoted friend, and someone who always puts others first, even in the face of her own struggles. Her creative mind and passion for art and all things weird and wonderful has always been a release that gives her drive and passion, i would love to give her the opportunity to explore that again. Now it’s time for us to show her the same love and care she’s always given to those around her.
