HurricaneMichael Relief-Rural areas
Donation protected
Hello,
My name is Darien Pollock, a Philosophy Ph.D. student at Harvard University, and a native of Marianna, Florida—a small town in northwest Florida. Recently, Hurricane Michael devastated my hometown, as well as other surrounding townships. Because of this natural disaster, the entire Florida panhandle is expected to be without power, access to food, water, and other necessities for several weeks.
Northwest Florida is home to some of Florida’s poorest counties, which means that many of the victims affected by Hurricane Michael are in dire need of financial assistance to purchase basic survival goods, such as water, ice, candles, batteries, lamps, and generators, as well as other resources essential for the restoration of this predominantly rural area, like chainsaws, oil and gas.
I am asking for any donation that you are willing to give. The funds will be distributed to families in need from the following counties in northwest Florida: Jackson County, Calhoun County, Gadsden County, and Washington County.
Details about Fund Distribution:
The money will go into my account for the Street Philosophy Institute (SPI), Inc.'s "Hurricane Michael Relief Effort.”
SPI is an incorporated non-profit organization registered in Massachusetts.
As Founder and Chairman of SPI, I will ensure that every donation is monitored with the utmost caution and integrity.
The funds will be disbursed to volunteers on the ground in Marianna, Florida, led by community organizer Nadine Long, to support several distribution efforts over the next few weeks.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at [email redacted]vard.edu or [email redacted].
Thank you so much for your help as we look to assist those in need during this time of hardship.
With peace,
-Darien Pollock
