Sponsor a Tloma Lunch
FOOD EMERGENCY FOR THE STUDENTS. Please sponsor one lunch at The Tloma Primary School . $65 will feed 800 children a meal of maize and beans.
Seasonal rains were too late and too little to support the crops that were planted at the normal planting time. The previous year had similar rainfall, so there is little in reserve to make up the difference. It is estimates the farm yields are down 40-70%.
Most families primarily eat ugali for their meals which is a thick, cooked dish of ground flour made from maize grown on the family farm. The parents typically contribute about 40 pounds of maize per year per child for school lunch. Many do not have it to give this year and the school doesn't have the goods or the funds to replace it.
Obviously, maize prices have increased due to the shortage. The cost for the school to purchase the corn and beans for one day's lunch is about $65, depending on the day's market price. They would appreciate any contributions we can make so that they can provide the children with a meal during the school, perhaps their best meal of the day.
Will you sponsor one day of lunches?
