Book-Making Sojourn in Turin
Donation protected
Books are my life. For decades I have been making small hand-painted books, carrying them around on my travels, and recording internal and external realities and possibilities. Recently I have made the books larger, creating a "Walking Book" with Grace Corbett of the Walden Project, with excerpts from Thoreau's essay "Walking "(photo above by Rebecca Mack on the Willowell land in Monkton) and still working on my giant room-sized illuminated accordion book, "Almandal Grimoire: The Book as Magical Object". Now I have the chance to go to Turin, Italy for a residency at the Fusion Art Gallery during the month of February, where a limited edition artist's book of my work will be produced by Edizione Inaudite. They provide me with an apartment, a studio, a museum and bus pass, 300 euros worth of art supplies, an exhibtion, and they cover the costs of the book production. But I still need to pay part of the fee and my travel expenses. Can you help me to regenerate my book-making practice and to get away for a spell from local politics and the Vermont winter? I promise I will come back refreshed and with new books, stories, and images to share.
