As many of you know, I have traveled to Consuelo, Dominican Republic for baseball camp for the past three years. Everyone who has gone on the trip has built strong bonds with the Dominican players and coaches, who every year welcome us with open arms. For the average kid in Consuelo, school ends at age 14 and they do not have the opportunities for education and employment that we take for granted.

For my Bar Mitzvah project, I would like to send a few young Dominican students to medical school or graduate school so they can improve their lives and the lives of other residents of Consuelo. The organization my camp works with is called the "Grey Sisters of the Immaculate Conception. " The Grey Sisters have been working in Consuelo since 1951 and have dedicated their lives to helping its residents. Among their many other projects, they provide scholarships for medical and graduate school students. When I met with Sister Alta during our most recent trip, I learned that for only a few hundred American dollars a month we can support several students as they pursue their dreams. The spread of COVID-19 has made medical training much more important, especially in countries like the Dominican Republic. My camp has generously agreed to match the first thousand dollars I raise.

One of the ways I am trying to celebrate my Bar Mitzvah is by helping others, so please join me in making this possible and in improving the lives of many people.
