Surprise GoFundMe for Paul Bechtold

As some of you may know, our father (Paul Bechtold) had an appointment with his heart doctor on Wednesday (7/18), to run some tests. While at his appointment, one of the medications caused his blood pressure to decline, causing him to flatline. Fortunately, the medical staff was able to stabilized him, and put in the ICU on a ventilator as soon as possible.  On Thursday evening, he was moved to another room, out of ICU where he had stayed until his scheduled open heart surgery Monday morning.  He had two mechiancal valves and two bypasses done. The surgery went well and his vitals were normal all of Monday and Tuesday. Wednesday morning, his heart stopped. The medical team performed CPR and installed an emergency pacemaker. They were able to stablize him, and take him back to the ICU on a ventilator. They were able to clean his lungs and runs some tests. During those tests, they realized that his kidneys and liver were failing too. Unfortunately,  the surgeons and doctors couldn’t figure out the cause because his heart, and blood flow were great! Within a few hours, the organs levels started to lower, but he was still having trouble with his lungs. He was stable early Thursday morning, but around 8am, his oxygen levels plummeted resulting in him flatlining again. At this point, the medical team put him on life support to help with his lungs. We just recently found out he was allergic to the blood thinner he was put on after heart surgery, which caused everything to start failing. He has been making a really amazing recovery thus far, thank you Jesus! He has a tough road of continued recovery and will be in the hospital for quite awhile. Because of all of the complications our dad went through, the medical care has created an enormous bill that our parents will have trouble taking care of. To relieve my mom and dad of the stress of bills, we kids decided to start raising money so the burden can be lessened to help dad focus on his health. If you aren’t able to give financially we understand, we just ask you continue to lift up our dad and family in your prayers, daily! We trust in God’s plan.
