Karen needs our help

January 23, 2023: Karen has been posting updates here and on her Caring Bridge site: https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/karenkoenemann. She loves hearing from everyone and really appreciates your donations, too. She is facing high monthly health insurance premiums and every donation helps, no matter the amount. Thank you for helping her through this difficult journey! Let's aim for the new goal and give her one less thing to worry about.

September 2022: Hi, my name is Robin, and I started this fundraiser for my co-worker and good friend Karen Koenemann and her husband Dave. She wouldn't ask for help herself, but she did give permission for us to rally together to make life a little bit easier for them right now.

Karen was recently diagnosed with a malignant glioblastoma multiforme 4 (brain tumor in frontal lobes). Following surgery she is currently undergoing chemotherapy and radiation. The diagnosis came after she suffered what seemed to be a seizure while driving to Anchorage to look at puppies with Dave. The good news is they adopted the adorable pup Geordi! The bad news is that glioblastoma is a very challenging disease and it’s going to take a village to help her through this.

Karen said, “I have active hope and optimism on all of the next stages of my health journey and will appreciate any positive vibes you send out into the universe for me.”

Everyone, let’s keep the good vibes coming, and also donations if possible. Karen will not be able to work during her treatment and she is the sole support of her family due to an earlier medical condition that left Dave disabled. Now she faces not only day-to-day expenses but also mounting medical bills. Together we can reduce the amount of stress and worry in their lives by just a little bit. Thank you!
